Forgiven You / Jacob Dycus
I’ve been in church most of my life. I was in Louisiana for 17 years and come from a place of broken family and relationships with addiction to drugs and alcohol. I’m the first person in my family to say no to drugs and alcohol. I’m 33 and never did any of those. It’s crazy to say that, people look at me and say how have you never drank alcohol before? I just haven’t, I have chosen to say no. It’s quite a testimony and quite a blessing.
I started writing music when I was 13/14 years old. It was weird because after I got baptized and got the Holy Ghost, within a year I started writing these songs and I didn’t know where they were coming from. I said this must be a God thing. Before you know it, I was writing four songs at once. One of those was Bring the Gospel and The Backstabber and two other ones. I just started writing them down and it turned into an album. I was 14, so I have rewritten them to make them more relevant. Forgiven You has been a vision since I was in eighth grade. The Lord put this vision in my mind many years ago. I kept pursuing it until it finally happened.
The band name comes from two scriptures: Colossians 3:13 and Ephesians 4:32.
